Built for the unexpected

Calmheads,clearanswers.

When a building is taking on water or becoming unsafe, you need decisions — not a directory of trades.

  • 01One point of contact across every trade
  • 02Scope and charges explained before work
  • 03Local response across Ealing and Acton
  • 04Temporary protection through final finish
How the response works

Four straightforward moves.

01

Tell us what happened

Call day or night. We ask a few quick questions to understand what's happened, how urgent it is, and whether anyone is at risk. Based on that, we tell you honestly what we can do and roughly when we can be there.

02

We assess on site

A competent tradesperson attends and inspects the damage in person — not just what's visible, but where it's likely to have spread. We explain what we've found in plain terms, confirm the charges up front, and agree the plan with you before anything starts.

03

We make it safe

Our first priority is stopping things getting worse. We contain water, isolate electrical or structural hazards, and weatherproof any exposed openings — sealing your property so it's safe and secure, whether or not the full repair happens the same day.

04

We put it back

From drying out affected areas and stripping damaged materials, to the full permanent repair and finishing touches, we manage the whole job — keeping you updated at every stage until your property is back to how it should be.

— Emergency FAQ

Common questions

How quickly can you attend an emergency call-out?

Most call-outs across W3, W5, W7 and W13 are attended within a few hours of first contact, depending on the nature of the emergency and current job load. Life-safety issues (structural collapse risk, exposed wiring, major flooding) are always prioritised first.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Yes — a standard call-out fee applies to cover assessment and travel, and is separate from the cost of any repair work. This is standard practice across the trade. The fee is usually offset against the final invoice if you go ahead with the repair.

Is a call-out fee charged even if no repair is carried out?

Typically yes, since it covers the time and expertise of attending and diagnosing the issue — even a same-day inspection with no follow-up work involves a technician's time and travel.

Do you work out of hours, at weekends, and on bank holidays?

Yes, emergency response is available outside normal business hours. Out-of-hours, evening, and weekend visits usually carry a premium on top of standard daytime rates — this should be confirmed at the point of booking.

Will you provide a written quote before starting work?

Yes. For anything beyond an initial temporary fix, a written estimate should be provided and agreed before work proceeds, so there are no surprises on the final bill.

Are you insured?

Any reputable emergency building contractor should hold public liability insurance and, where relevant, trade-specific accreditation (e.g. Gas Safe for gas work, NICEIC/NAPIT for electrical work). Confirm current certification details before publishing this answer.

What counts as a genuine building emergency?

Generally: anything that risks further damage to the property, poses a safety hazard, or leaves the building insecure — for example an active leak, storm damage exposing the interior, a collapsed section of ceiling or wall, or exposed live wiring. Non-urgent cosmetic repairs can usually wait for a scheduled visit.

Do you help with insurance claims?

Many emergency builders provide a written damage report, photos, and a repair estimate that can be submitted to a home insurer. Confirm whether this is offered as standard before publishing.

What areas do you cover?

Response is focused on Ealing, Acton, Hanwell and West Ealing, and the surrounding W3, W5, W7 and W13 postcodes.

Can you carry out a temporary fix now and a permanent repair later?

Yes — this is standard for emergency work. The priority on the first visit is making the property safe and watertight/secure; permanent repairs are then scheduled once materials and access are arranged.

Do you handle broken windows and glazing emergencies?

Yes — we board up broken or blown-out glazing the same visit and arrange permanent replacement, matching the original glass and frame specification where possible.

Do you handle gas leaks and heating breakdowns?

Yes — all gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. If you smell gas, turn off the supply at the meter if safe, ventilate the property, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 before contacting us.

— While you wait

What to do while waiting for help

Follow these safety steps while waiting for our team to arrive.

  • 1. Turn off the water at the stopcock if you have an active leak or burst pipe
  • 2. Switch off the electricity at the consumer unit if wiring is exposed, wet, or you smell burning
  • 3. Move furniture and valuables away from the affected area if it's safe to do so
  • 4. Take photos of the damage for your records and any future insurance claim
  • 5. Keep clear of any ceiling, wall, or roof section that looks like it could collapse
  • 6. If there is any risk to life (structural collapse, gas smell, fire), call 999 first, then contact us
